London calling part 1

Before I begin this entry I want to make a public apology. Emma, I'm so sorry my spelling, punctuation and grammar is abysmal. I humbly bow down to you and beg for forgiveness. So with that out the way let's get down to what was one of the most fun filled few days I've had in many a year.

How to explain everything that went on, in a word carnage. It started off innocently enough with me crossing off another one off the 100 challenges list (for more details see the next entry!) but quickly descended into chaos on the first night with a meet up with Team Parks second most important player, James Swain. A quick couple of pints later and a catch up that had been far to long in the offing, he made a suggestion of doing some shots. Never one to back down, and the fact it was a Thursday night and it used to be our night out, black sambucas were ordered and quickly dispatched. This is where it started to go wrong. Having to get to Liverpool Street Station it was either a 15 minute walk or a 2 minute scooter ride. So common sense went out of the window and we both got on one scooter and trundled off into the rush hour traffic and broke roughly 100 traffic laws, risked our lives, went down one way streets the wrong way, and in general behaved like we were 18 years old again.

Luckily we didn't die and made to Liverpool St, however it was chaos in the station itself and every overground train was delayed, an uber wouldn't get us there in time according to the app, so on the tube we went and after a quick journey up, where I got offered a seat by a teenager, which made me feel old! Then an issue with a bag delayed us further, I finally got into the ground about 10 minutes after kick off. James on the other hand had to go and check his bag and ended up getting in with about 35 minutes already gone. The game itself was average, we beat Elfsborg 3-0, but given it was my first time at the new ground, which I have to say is bloody amazing. Maybe next time I head off there I'll get there to enjoy the pre-match and maybe even the entire 90 minutes!

After another couple of drinks and a great catch up with James, a quick stop off at McDonalds and a walk back to the tube station in which I saw at least a dozen men urinating up various walls, it was time for night one to end.

Day two started off with a quick trip back to Luton and a stop off at the Sandwich bar which is one of the things I truly miss about the place. A meet up with Emma was on the cards. It's amazing how quickly time goes when your with someone who you love spending time with, a great conversation about so many things, we even dabbled with politics, look at us going all high-brow! While we walked down The Embankment, and then onto the fantastic Fawlty Towers play. If you're a fan of the classic show then you'll love this. It takes four different episodes and mashes them together into one play.  This was definitely the calm before the storm.

It's amazing how quickly time goes when your with someone who you love spending time with, a great conversation about so many things, we even dabbled with politics, look at us going all high-brow! While we walked down The Embankment, took in a couple of book shops, had a bite to eat and then onto the fantastic Fawlty Towers play. If your a fan of the classic show then you'll love this. It takes four different episodes and mashes them together into one play. It had me and Emma laughing our socks off, and I fully recommend it.

She's put up with me calling her a loser for so many years I want it on public record she's far from that, she's been an amazing friend to me this past year and I wouldn't have gotten where I am without her constant stream of good advice and gentle badgering! So Emma, thank you!

This was definitely the calm before the storm. To be continued in part 2....
